Relevant Experience:

ICF has a proven track record in conducting relevant assignments in Somalia, including:

  • Leading baseline needs assessments for the FSRP project for Somalia (World Bank funded) for the Ministry of Livestock, Forestry and Rangeland Management, Southwest State.
  • Conducting endline evaluations for integrated emergency food and child protection assistance.
  • Undertaking Third Party Monitoring (TPM) for integrated response.
  • Developing and establishing partnership management and in-take process guidelines.
  • Providing business coaching and mentoring training for government officials and local business development mentors in Kismayu, Jubaland State

My role involves leading and supporting the ministry in carrying out three baseline needs assessments for the FSRP project, which is funded by the World Bank.

The specific areas of assessment are: -

  • Conduct Mapping of Livestock Community-Based Institutions and Agri-Food Value Chain Actors in Baidoa, Afgoye, Hudur, and Elbarde, Southwest State, Somalia.

Consultancy: ToR for Business Coaching and Mentoring Trainer Service Experts to Train Gov’t Officials & Local Business Development Mentors – Kismayu Jubaland State, Somalia.

The specific objectives of the training are as follows: -

  • Develop a robust, competency-based curriculum and essential tools: This includes a tailored mentorship curriculum, practical business coaching and mentoring tools, and effective mentors' service performance monitoring tools.
  • Impart comprehensive business mentorship and coaching skills: Train 15 selected community members and Ministry of Trade staff on effective business management practices, business diagnosis, coaching support, and mentoring techniques.
  • Establish a sustainable local mentorship framework: Prepare and empower the top four community mentors to provide ongoing, practical guidance and support to 48 beneficiary business groups, ensuring they effectively apply learned business management principles.
  • Enable effective business performance tracking and guidance: Equip mentors with the knowledge and tools to monitor business performance progress, identify challenges early, and provide timely business advice to ensure successful ventures.

Contribute to CFSP project indicators: Ensure the training and subsequent mentorship services directly contribute to the achievement of CFSP project indicators, specifically focusing on improved business management knowledge in the context of climate change among pastoralists.
